The highly anticipated new television anime series, titled Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke, is officially slated to make its premiere on April 4. This new installment continues the adaptation of Miya Kazuki's acclaimed "biblia fantasy" light novel series, Ascendance of a Bookworm. The series is scheduled for a substantial half-year run, encompassing two consecutive cours of broadcast.

Promotional Video Series Unveiled

The official X/Twitter account for Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke has been actively releasing a series of four weekly special videos to build anticipation for the upcoming season. The second of these special videos was recently revealed on Saturday, featuring the theme of "Fantasy." This particular video offered a closer look at Rozemyne's and Ferdinand's highbeasts, notably highlighting Rozemyne's newly created highbeast, Lessy. Fans can look forward to the third video in the series, themed "Bookbinding," which is set to debut on March 21. Following this, the fourth and final video, scheduled for March 28, will serve as the anime's second full promotional video. This comprehensive promotional video will also provide a first listen to both the opening and ending theme songs for the new season.

Broadcast Schedule Details

The premiere broadcast for Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke is set for April 4. On this date, the anime will first air on Yomiuri TV and NTV starting at 5:30 p.m. JST. Shortly thereafter, the series will also be available on the Tokyo MX channel. Its broadcast on Tokyo MX is scheduled for April 6, with an air time of 9:25 p.m. JST.

Returning and New Voice Cast Members Announced

The upcoming series will feature the return of key voice actors, ensuring continuity for beloved characters. Yuka Iguchi is confirmed to reprise her role as Rozemyne, who was previously known as Myne. Show Hayami will also return to lend his voice to Ferdinand. In addition to these familiar voices, several new cast members have been announced to bring new characters to life. Yukari Tamura joins the ensemble as Georgine. Mami Koyama is cast in the role of Veronica. Minami Takayama will voice Florencia. Kazuhiro Yamaji takes on the character of Bonifatius. Nao Toyama is cast as Angelica. Asami Seto will be heard as Brigitte. Lastly, Katsumi Fukuhara is announced as Zack.

Production Team Changes and Continuations

The production of the new series sees some notable changes and welcomed returns in its creative team. Yoshiaki Iwasaki is directing Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke at Wit Studio. Iwasaki brings a wealth of experience, having previously directed works such as Kowloon Generic Romance, Hayate the Combat Butler, and We Never Learn: BOKUBEN. He steps into the directorial role, replacing Mitsuru Hongo, who directed the anime's first three seasons. Mariko Kunisawa will return to the project to write the series scripts, maintaining her established contribution to the adaptation. Aiko Minowa joins the team as the new character designer. Minowa's previous work includes in-between animation for After the Rain and The Ancient Magus' Bride. MICHIRU is also returning to compose the music for the series, ensuring the continued sonic landscape for the story.

Opening and Ending Theme Songs Revealed

The musical landscape for the new anime season will feature distinct artists performing the opening and ending theme songs. Little Glee Monster has been selected to perform the anime's opening theme song, which is titled "Pages." For the ending theme song, Nogizaka46 member Erika Ikuta will perform the track titled "Ima mo, Arigato," which translates to "Even Now, I Thank You."

The Ascendance of a Bookworm anime franchise has a well-established history, with its first season premiering in October 2019 and concluding in December 2019 after 14 episodes. The second season followed, premiering in Japan in April 2020. The anime's third season then premiered in April 2022. Throughout all three of its previous seasons, Crunchyroll streamed the series to international audiences as they aired. The original light novel series by Miya Kazuki began its serialization on the "Shosetsuka ni Naro" website in 2013 and concluded its web novel run in 2017. You Shiina provides the illustrations for the print edition of the novels. The main novel series recently concluded with its 33rd volume, specifically volume 12 of part 5, which was released in December 2023. The entire novel series has achieved significant commercial success, boasting over 13 million copies in circulation, a figure that includes digital copies. J-Novel Club is actively involved in releasing both the light novels and various manga adaptations of the series in English for readers outside of Japan.
