New Cast Members Announced for "The Ogre's Bride" Anime
The official X/Twitter account for the television anime adaptation of Kureha's "The Ogre's Bride" light novels has revealed two new cast members. The anime is slated to premiere in 2026.
Cast Additions
Momoka Terasawa will be voicing the character Sou. Miyu Kobashi will be taking on the role of Ao. These additions expand the cast for the upcoming anime.
Previously Announced Cast and Crew
Saori Hayami is set to play the protagonist, Yuzu Shinonome. Yūichirō Umehara will be portraying Reiya Kiryuin. Kazuhito Ōmiya is directing the anime at Colored Pencil Animation Japan. Yumi Kamakura is in charge of series composition. Hikari Tanaka is designing the characters. Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.
Anime Premise
The series is set in a version of where humans and demons coexist peacefully. The story follows Yuzu, an ordinary high school girl. She lives in the shadow of her older sister, who is betrothed to a demon. Yuzu's life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters a beautiful ogre who claims her as his bride.
Manga Adaptation
Jun Togashi launched a manga adaptation of the light novels in Starts Publishing's Noicomi magazine in December 2021. The manga adaptation achieved recognition by winning Noicomi's annual comic ranking in the girl comics category in both 2022 and 2023. Starts Publishing released the eighth compiled book volume on December 26. MangaPlaza is currently publishing the manga in English.
Light Novel Origins
Kureha began the light novel series on Starts Publishing's Novema platform in 2019. The series was awarded the grand prize at the First Novema Character Short Story Contest. Starts Publishing released the seventh volume on August 8. Yū Shiroya provides the illustrations for the series.
Popularity and Reach
The light novel series and its manga adaptation have collectively reached over 5.8 million copies in circulation. This demonstrates the widespread popularity of the story.
Live-Action Film
The novels are also inspiring a live-action film adaptation. This film is scheduled to be released on March 27. The story will be presented in a new format for fans to enjoy.
