The Cat and the Dragon Anime Adaptation Unveils Cast, Visuals, and Premiere Date

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Amara's Neko to Ryuu (The Cat and the Dragon) light novel has released exciting new details, including supporting cast information, a captivating key visual, and the first promotional video. Fans can mark their calendars for the premiere in July 2026, airing on Tokyo MX, BS NTV, and Yomiuri TV.

Stellar Supporting Cast Announced

A talented ensemble of voice actors will be bringing the supporting characters to life. Kikuko Inoue, known for her role in The Rising of the Shield Hero, will voice Mama Nyan. Shirotae will be voiced by Fuuka Izumi, recognized for her work in Surviving in Another World with My Potion. Show Hayami, celebrated for his role in Farming Life in Another World, will voice Kurobane. Haibuchi will be voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama, known for Ramen Akaneko. Chikuro will be voiced by Maki Kawase, recognized for her role in Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World 3rd Season. Kurotama will be voiced by Shinnosuke Tokudome, known for Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku.

Production Team and Staff

Jin-Gu Oh (Ooi! Tonbo) is helming the anime adaptation at OLM. Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-A-Girlfriend) is in charge of series composition. Chiaki Kurakazu (Pokemon (2023) animation director) and Rie Nishino (The Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath of the Gods) are designing the characters, ensuring a visually appealing adaptation. Takahiro Obata (The Promised Neverland) is composing the music, setting the tone and atmosphere for the series.

Light Novel and Manga Origins

Amara began writing the fantasy story on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in September 2013. Takarajimasha began publishing the light novel in April 2016, featuring illustrations by Mai Okuma. The ninth volume of the light novel was released in November 2025. A manga adaptation by Izumi Sasaki began serializing on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Web in September 2017. The 11th volume of the manga went on sale in November 2025, demonstrating the series' sustained popularity across different media formats.

Promotional Video Released

The first promotional video offers a glimpse into the world of The Cat and the Dragon, showcasing the animation style, character designs, and overall tone of the series. The video is sure to generate excitement among fans eager to see this beloved light novel brought to life on screen.
