Airi Miyakawa and RLOEVO to Perform Theme Songs for "Observation Records of My Fiancee" Anime

The upcoming anime adaptation of Shiki's "Observation Records of My Fiancee: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess" light novel series has revealed its opening and ending theme song artists. Airi Miyakawa will perform the opening theme song, titled "La Fleur," while RLOEVO will perform the ending theme song, "Magic."

Promotional Video and Premiere Date

The anime's official website has started streaming the second promotional video, which previews both theme songs. The anime is scheduled to premiere on Tokyo MX, BS11, and Sun TV on April 6.

The cast includes Yūsuke Kobayashi as Cecil Glo Alphasta, Miyu Tomita as Bertia Ibil Noches, Yume Miyamoto as Heronia Inderon, Ayumu Murase as Shawn Turquoin Alphasta, Ayaka Ōhashi as Joanna Curtswarren, Shun Horie as Nelt Krum, Iori Saeki as Lunea Silica, Yusuke Shirai as Charles Raonel, Aya Uchida as Anne Kogares, Hidenori Takahashi as Vald Norgins, M.A.O as Cynthia Linnerith, Atsushi Tamaru as Zeno, Seiichirō Yamashita as Courtgain Deres Mardan, and Akari Kitō as Kuro.

Anime Staff

Junichi Yamamoto is directing the anime at Ashi Productions. Miki Matsumoto is adapting Wan Hachipisu's character designs for animation, and Akiko Inoue is writing and overseeing the series scripts. Yūki Hayashi, Luke Standridge, and Asa Taylor are composing the music, with music production cooperation by Futokoro Gatana.

Other staff members include Abe and Uni Matsui as sub-character designers, Naomi Nakano (Stella) as color key artist, Yuika Nagai (Stella) as assistant color key artist, Junichi Higashi as art director, Yūta Fujii as background art, Hideki Eto (EXPLOSION) as compositing director of photography, Kio Edamatsu as prop design, Jie Ren (Boundary) as CG director, Akinori Mishima (Mishima Editing Room) as editing, and Yukio Nagasaki as sound director.

Story Synopsis

Hanashi Media has released the light novel series in English digitally, and it describes the story as follows: Prince Cecil, exceptionally gifted, finds life mundane until he becomes engaged to Bertia, the Chancellor's daughter. Bertia declares herself the villain of the story, claiming to have memories of a former life where she was the antagonist in an Otome game. She aims to excel as a villainess and have her engagement annulled, but her attempts are always unsuccessful. The story explores whether her fiance, who aspires to master villainous finesse, is simply misguided.

Light Novel and Manga Adaptations

Shiki originally serialized the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, but later took it down. AlphaPolis released the original novel in two volumes in 2017 with illustrations by Wan Hachipisu. The series has an ongoing sequel titled Jishō Akuyaku Reijō na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku.. The fifth volume of the sequel shipped in May 2025. Hanashi Media releases the sequel digitally in English under the title Observation Records of My Wife, and released the second volume on January 29.

Natsume Hasumi drew a manga adaptation of the original novel series that had six volumes and one extra volume, which AlphaPolis has released in English on the Alpha Manga service under the title An Observation Log of My Fiancee Who Calls Herself a Villainess. Hasumi is also drawing a manga adaptation of the Jishō Akuyaku Reijō na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku. sequel. The third volume of the sequel shipped in Japan in May 2025. Alpha Manga is also releasing the manga in English under the title An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess.
