'Mao' Reveals Additional Cast, Ending Theme, First Promo, 2 Consecutive Cours


New Cast Members Revealed for Anime Adaptation

The anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's manga, Mao, has announced additional cast members. Momoka Terasawa will voice Otoya, Motoko Kumai will voice Uozumi Funa, Youko Hikasa will voice Tenko, Kazuyuki Okitsu will voice Shiranei, Risa Shimizu will voice Sana, Reina Ueda will voice Yurako, and Takashi Matsuyama will voice Byouki.

Theme Songs Announced and Previewed

The opening theme song, "HEARTLOUD," will be performed by J-boy band Kis-My-Ft2. The ending theme song, "Juai," will be performed by TRUE. Both theme songs are previewed in the promotional video.

Production Team Details

Teruo Satou is directing the anime at Sunrise. Yuuko Kakihara is handling the series composition. Yoshihito Hishinuma is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. Shuu Kanematsu is composing the music.

Anime Series Premiere Date

The anime series will premiere on April 4 at 11:45 p.m. on NHK G and will run for two consecutive cours.

Manga Publication Information

Rumiko Takahashi began serializing the manga in Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine in May 2019. Shogakukan published the 27th volume on February 18.

English Manga Release

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in February 2021. The 23rd volume shipped on February 10, with the 24th volume planned for a May 12 release.

A promotional video for the anime adaptation has been released. The video previews both the opening and ending theme songs. The video also features glimpses of the animation and characters.
