The Week's Top Sales Debut

Pokémon Pokopia achieved the number one rank in Japan's game sales for the week spanning March 2 to March 8. This Nintendo title, released on March 5 for the NSw 2 system, recorded 541,371 units sold during its debut week. Its total copies sold since release also stood at 541,371 units for the period. The game's immediate ascent to the top position marked a strong launch for the new Pokémon entry.

Multiplatform Releases and Performances

Resident Evil requiem, a CAPCOM publication, appeared twice in the top five. The PS5 version of Resident Evil requiem secured the second rank. Released on February 27, this edition sold 23,459 copies during the week, accumulating a total of 178,832 copies since its launch. The NSw 2 version of Resident Evil requiem also debuted on February 27 and was listed at the fifth position. This NSw 2 iteration sold 6,562 copies weekly, contributing to its total of 45,355 copies since its release. Mario Tennis Fever, a Nintendo game for the NSw 2 system, was ranked fourth. This title, released on February 12, added 9,626 units to its weekly sales, bringing its total copies sold to 75,831.

Notable Future Releases for NSw 2

Several titles with future release dates for the NSw 2 system made significant appearances in the sales chart. Mario Kart World, a Nintendo title scheduled for release on June 5, 2025, achieved the third rank. It recorded 10,023 weekly copies sold, pushing its total copies to 2,856,782. Pokémon Legends: Z-A, another Nintendo publication with an October 16, 2025 release date, featured twice. The NSw 2 version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A was listed at rank 11, with 4,024 units sold during the week, contributing to its total of 1,099,027 copies. The NSw version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, also dated for October 16, 2025, followed at rank 12, selling 3,833 units weekly for a total of 1,623,420 copies. This indicates a consistent sales trend for these upcoming titles across different Nintendo Switch variations.

Diverse Franchise Sales Across Systems

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, published by Square Enix and released on February 5, showed its presence across three different systems. The NSw 2 version of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined secured rank 7, selling 5,594 units weekly and reaching a total of 208,364 copies since its release. The NSw version of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined was positioned at rank 9, with 5,026 weekly sales contributing to its total of 236,744 copies. The PS5 version of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined also made the top 20, landing at rank 19. It sold 2,523 copies during the week, bringing its total copies to 141,812.

Continuing Successes for Nintendo Titles

Established Nintendo franchises continued to perform robustly. Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the NSw system, originally released on March 20, 2020, was ranked sixth. It sold 6,405 units during the week, and its total copies reached 8,397,297. A newer iteration, Animal Crossing: New Horizons for NSw 2, released on January 15, achieved rank 8 with 5,074 weekly sales, bringing its total to 83,595 copies. Minecraft, published by Nippon Microsoft for the NSw system since June 21, 2018, secured the tenth position. It added 4,667 units to its weekly sales, resulting in a substantial total of 4,164,389 copies.

Additional Upcoming Titles and Chart Placements

Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV, a Nintendo title for the NSw 2 system scheduled for release on July 24, 2025, was ranked 13th. It sold 3,513 units during the week, with total copies reaching 175,053. Shutokō Battle/Tokyo Xtreme Racer, a Genki title for the PS5, released on February 26, appeared at rank 14. It sold 3,318 copies weekly, achieving a total of 20,987 units. Kirby Air Riders, a Nintendo game for the NSw 2 system set for November 20, 2025, took rank 15. This title sold 3,196 units weekly, bringing its total copies to 510,013.

Further Chart Details and Long-Term Sellers

Super Mario Party Jamboree, a Nintendo title for the NSw system released on October 17, 2024, was ranked 16th. It sold 3,165 units during the week, with its total copies reaching 1,491,662. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a Nintendo game for the NSw released on April 28, 2017, maintained its presence at rank 17. It recorded 3,004 weekly sales, adding to its total of 6,553,524 copies. Momotaro Dentetsu 2: Anata no Machi mo Kitto Aru Higashi Nihon-hen + Nishi Nihon-hen, a Konami title for the NSw 2 system slated for November 13, 2025, secured rank 18. It sold 2,802 units weekly, with its total copies reaching 281,409. Nintendo Switch Sports, a Nintendo title for the NSw launched on April 29, 2022, completed the top 20 at rank 20, selling 2,385 units weekly and bringing its total copies to 1,708,411.
