The full-length film is scheduled to make its grand opening in theaters across Japan on July 24. Their tranquility is suddenly interrupted by the appearance of a rabbit, carrying a mysterious flyer on its face. Upon examining the flyer, Hachiware discovers an enticing "Invitation to a special island." The invitation details tempting promises, including generous rewards for simple hunts on the island and an array of essentially free sweet and spicy culinary delights, such as exclusive island ramen and various sweets. Lured by these appealing prospects, Chiikawa and their friends decide to embark on this island journey. However, Rakko, harboring suspicion regarding the flyer's contents, opts to join them, adding a layer of caution to the impending adventure. The central mystery then unfolds as the characters ponder what unknown encounters and discoveries await them upon their arrival at the enigmatic island.

The widespread appeal of Chiikawa originated from its manga, which Nagano began serializing under the title Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu. The series first launched on X, then known as Twitter, in January 2020, quickly garnering a devoted following for its endearing characters and heartwarming stories.

The manga's popularity soon led to a television anime adaptation, which premiered in April 2022. Initially, the anime aired every Friday as a segment within Fuji TV's morning news and entertainment program, Mezamashi Terebi. Demonstrating its growing popularity, the broadcast schedule was expanded in April 2023, with new episodes airing twice a week, on both Tuesdays and Fridays. For international audiences, Sentai Filmworks acquired the licensing rights for the anime, making it accessible for streaming on HIDIVE with accompanying English subtitles.
