The New Prince of Tennis Manga to End in 6 More Chapters

The New Prince of Tennis Manga to Conclude After 6 More Chapters
Takeshi Konomi, the creator of the popular Prince of Tennis series, has announced that the sequel manga, The New Prince of Tennis, will be ending soon. According to Konomi's statement on Sunday, the manga will conclude after just six more chapters, marking the end of a long-running series.
A Decade-Long Sequel
Konomi launched The New Prince of Tennis in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine back in 2009. This sequel arrived a decade after the debut of the original Prince of Tennis manga, continuing the story of Ryoma Echizen and his tennis journey. Shueisha published the 46th compiled book volume of the manga on January 5, showcasing the series' continued popularity.
Planned Ending
In July of last year, Konomi revealed his plans to conclude The New Prince of Tennis within a year. The magazine has been publishing two to three chapters in each issue, which makes it difficult to predict the precise ending date of the manga.
The Original Prince of Tennis
Konomi's original Prince of Tennis manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1999 to 2008. The story follows middle school tennis player Ryoma Echizen as he competes against rivals to reach the national tournament. The manga's popularity led to various adaptations.
Adaptations and Legacy
The Prince of Tennis has spawned numerous adaptations, including a television anime that aired from 2001 to 2005. There were also two anime feature films, a theatrical short, and various video anime projects. The franchise also includes a live-action film, a live-action television series in China, and a successful stage musical series.
New Anime Series
The Prince of Tennis franchise is still going strong, with a new anime series on the horizon. Shin Tennis no Oji-sama U-17 World Cup Kessho Member Ketteisen, which is a sequel to The Prince of Tennis II U-17 World Cup Semifinal anime, is scheduled to debut this fall.
U-17 World Cup Finals
This upcoming anime series will focus on the battle to decide which players will represent Japan in the finals match against Spain. This promises to be an exciting installment for fans of the franchise.
The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup
The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal itself is a sequel to The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup anime series, showing the continuing story of the tennis players.
Recent Anime Release
The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup premiered on TV Tokyo in July 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and also offered an English dub. This marked the first new television anime in the franchise in about a decade.
