The television anime adaptation of Tadashi Agi and Shū Okimoto's acclaimed manga, The Drops of God, is gearing up for its premiere with exciting new updates. A new promotional video has unveiled additional cast members, confirmed a two-cours run, and announced the official premiere date.

New Cast Members Announced

Several talented voice actors are joining the cast to bring new characters to life in the anime adaptation. Yūko Kaida will be voicing Ryōko Kiryū, a lawyer playing a crucial role in overseeing the inheritance dispute that drives the story. Shinshū Fuji will lend his voice to Shirō Fujieda, the owner and sommelier of the wine bar Monopole, who also serves as a mentor to the character Miyabi. Misa Watanabe will be portraying Maki Saionji, the president of Saion Corporation, adding another layer of intrigue to the narrative. Yūya Uchida will be voicing Sōichirō Mishima, the owner of the Bourgogne Rouge bar where Miyabi works, further enriching the world of the anime. Lastly, Jin Urayama will be playing Robert Doi, a man living a humble life in a cardboard house in the park, finding solace in wine.

Premiere Date and Streaming Information

The Drops of God anime is set to premiere on April 10 at 11:30 p.m. on the Tokyo MX channel, before airing on Kansai TV and BS NTV. For international viewers, Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS, making it accessible to a global audience.

Advance Screening Event

Prior to the official premiere, an advance screening of the first two episodes was held on February 28 at the TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills in Tokyo. The event was attended by the three main cast members, providing fans with an exclusive sneak peek and a chance to interact with the voices behind their favorite characters.

Main Cast and Production Staff

The anime features a talented cast, with Takuya Satō as Issei Tomine, Kazuya Kamenashi as Shizuku Kanzaki, Maaya Uchida as Miyabi Shinohara, and Banjō Ginga as Yutaka Kanzaki. The series is being directed by Kenji Itoso at Satelight, with collaboration from YANCHESTER. Yū Mitsuru is supervising and writing the series scripts, Takehiro Suwa is designing the characters, and Eishi Segawa is composing the music.

Manga Origins and Previous Adaptations

The Drops of God manga, created by siblings Shin and Yuko Kibayashi under the pen name Tadashi Agi, with art by Shū Okimoto, was first launched in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 2004. The initial manga series concluded in June 2014, spanning 44 compiled volumes. Comixology and Kodansha USA Publishing have released the manga in English digitally, bringing the captivating story to English-speaking readers.

The series has inspired various adaptations, including a live-action series in Japan in 2009. More recently, an internationally co-produced, multilingual live-action television series premiered on Apple TV+ in 2023, followed by a second season in January 2024, showcasing the manga's enduring popularity and global appeal.

Sequel Manga Series

Following the conclusion of the original manga series, the creators launched a sequel titled Marriage: Kami no Shizuku Saishūshō in May 2015, which ended in October 2020. Kodansha USA Publishing is also releasing Drops of God: Mariage in English digitally. In September 2023, the duo launched another sequel manga, Kami no Shizuku deuxième, in Kodansha's Morning magazine, which concluded in April 2024, further expanding the world of The Drops of God.

Key Visual

The staff has also released a new key visual, offering a glimpse into the visual style and tone of the anime adaptation. The visual features the main characters and hints at the themes of wine, family, and competition that are central to the story.
