New Kamen Rider Agito Film Announces 8 More Cast Members

New Cast Members Join "Agito -Superpowered War-" Film

The upcoming Kamen Rider movie project, "Agito -Superpowered War-," celebrating the franchise's 55th anniversary, has announced eight new cast members. These actors join the already stellar lineup, which includes veterans of the Kamen Rider series.

The newly announced cast includes Yuchami as Ruriko Aoi, an officer of G Unit, a police SWAT team tasked with countering unidentified lifeforms. Ryusuke Komakine will play Oyama, a prison inmate. Yuki Imai joins the cast as Kurotani, a person with superpowers who is collaborating with G Unit. Hiroaki Iwanaga will portray Rouge, a person with superpowers. Suzunosuke will play Kito, also a person with superpowers. Kokoro Aoshima will be Shibukawa, another character with superpowers. Satoshi Kanada will be Hayami, a person with superpowers. Becky will appear as Kasumi, the ex-fiancee of Tohru Hojo.

Film's Premise and Returning Cast

"Agito -Superpowered War-" is set in a world where people are developing superpowers and subsequently misusing them, leading to chaos. The story focuses on Makoto Hikawa, a righteous individual without superpowers, who finds himself at the center of the unfolding drama and action.

Jun Kaname and Toshiki Kashu, the original lead actors from the 2001 "Kamen Rider Agito" series, will reprise their roles as Makoto Hikawa and Shouichi Tsugami, respectively. The return of these actors is sure to excite fans of the original series.

Several other cast members from the original series are also returning for the new film. Touko Fujita will be back as Sumiko Ozawa. Jun Yamasaki will reprise his role as Tohru Hojo. Akiyoshi Shibata will return as Takahiro Omuro. Takeshi Masu will portray Yoshihiko Misugi. Rina Akiyama will be back as Mana Kazaya. Tokimasa Tanabe will reprise his role as Taichi Misugi. Takanori Kikuchi will return as Kaoru Kino.

Returning Staff and Series Background

The original series' staff will also return to work on the new film. Ryuta Tasaki will serve as the director. Toshiki Inoue will be the screenwriter. Shinichiro Shirakura, Naomi Takebe, and Hideaki Tsukada will be the executive producers. Their involvement ensures that the film will stay true to the spirit of the original series.

"Kamen Rider Agito" originally aired in Japan from 2001 to 2002, spanning 51 episodes. The series was a popular installment in the long-running Kamen Rider franchise.

Other Kamen Rider Projects

Hideaki Anno's live-action film, "Shin Kamen Rider," was released in Japan in March 2023 and screened in North American theaters in May 2023. This film offered a fresh take on the Kamen Rider story.

The "Fuuto Tantei" manga serves as a sequel to the 2009 "Kamen Rider W" series. Riku Sanjo, a key writer for the original series, is writing the manga's scripts, and Masaki Satou is illustrating the manga. The manga began serialization in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine in August 2017.

The "FUUTO PI" anime, based on the "Fuuto Tantei" manga, premiered in August 2022. The anime project commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Kamen Rider franchise. The manga also inspired the "Fuuto Tantei: Kamen Rider Skull no Shozo" anime film, which had a limited theatrical run in Japan in November 2024. The film tells the story of the beginning of Kamen Rider W.

Release Date

"Agito -Superpowered War-" will be released in Japan on April 29. Fans eagerly anticipate this new installment in the Kamen Rider franchise.
