Super Robot Wars Y: "Awakening of a Soul" DLC Incoming

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of the second DLC for Super Robot Wars Y, the latest installment in the long-running crossover strategy role-playing game series. Titled "Awakening of a Soul," the DLC is set to launch on February 5, with early access available starting February 3.

Free Title Update Ahead of DLC

Prior to the DLC release, a free title update will be launched on February 2. The specifics of this update have not been fully detailed, but it is expected to include various improvements and potentially some new features to enhance the overall gameplay experience.

"Awakening of a Soul" DLC Content

The "Awakening of a Soul" DLC promises to deliver a substantial amount of new content for Super Robot Wars Y players. It will introduce five new playable units, expanding the roster of mecha available for strategic deployment in battles. In addition to the new units, the DLC will feature 16 new area missions, providing players with fresh challenges and opportunities to test their skills. Furthermore, 10 new onboard missions will be included, offering additional gameplay scenarios and character interactions. Finally, a new assist crew member will be added, providing players with a new support option.

Units Inspired by Classic Anime

The content included in the "Awakening of a Soul" DLC draws inspiration from several well-known anime series. Kotetsu Jeeg, The Brave Fighter of Legend Da-Garn, and Dynamic Planning Original are among the sources of inspiration for the new units and missions featured in the DLC. This crossover of different mecha anime properties is a hallmark of the Super Robot Wars series, and this DLC continues that tradition.

Previous DLC and Game Launch Details

The first DLC for Super Robot Wars Y was released on November 20. This earlier DLC also included a significant amount of new content, featuring five new units, 16 new area missions, 13 new onboard missions, and two new assist crew members. Alongside the first DLC, an update was released that added a new special mission, EX Level pilot skills, and other stability improvements to the game. Super Robot Wars Y initially launched on August 28 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The base game includes characters and mecha from various anime, including COMBATTLER V, Aura Battler Dunbine, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (Season 1), Majestic Prince, Macross Delta: Passionate Walküre, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, and Getter Robo Arc.

Super Robot Wars 30

The previous installment in the series, Super Robot Wars 30, was launched in October 2021 for PS4 and Switch in both Japan and Southeast Asia (in English). The game was also released for PC via Steam in the same regions, as well as in the West, on the same day. Super Robot Wars 30 continued the series tradition of bringing together mecha and characters from different anime series in a strategic role-playing game format.
