Star Detective Precure! Coming to Crunchyroll
The 23rd main entry in the Precure franchise, Star Detective Precure!, is set to begin streaming on Crunchyroll this Saturday. Anime enthusiasts across North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the CIS region will be able to enjoy the latest adventures of the magical girl team. The anime is also scheduled to debut on Sunday on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and its affiliate channels at 8:30 a.m. JST, with an additional broadcast on BSS San-in starting February 8 at 6:15 a.m.
A Time-Traveling Mystery
Star Detective Precure! follows the story of Anna Akechi, a second-year middle school student residing in Makoto Mirai Town. One day, her "companion fairy," Pochitan, appears on her birthday, prompting her to travel back in time from 2027 to 1999. In the Makoto Mirai Town of 1999, Anna encounters Mikuru Kobayashi, another second-year middle school student with aspirations of becoming a renowned detective.
Together, Anna and Mikuru witness the chaos caused by the Phantom Thieves, who are stealing precious belongings from the town's residents. Driven by a sense of justice, the two girls transform into great Precure detectives, utilizing their deductive reasoning skills to protect the smiles of the people.
The Cast of Characters
The anime features a talented cast of voice actors who bring the characters to life. Hikari Senga voices Cure Answer/Anna Akechi, while Kaede Hondo lends her voice to Cure Mystic/Mikuru Kobayashi. Nao Toyama plays Cure Arcana Shadow/Ruruka Moria, and Emiri Kato voices the fairy companion, Pochitan. Hina Yomiya portrays Mashtan, and Yuki Kaji takes on the role of Jet Senpai.
Theme Songs
Adding to the excitement, Ami Ishii performs the opening theme song, "Heart ni Hint! Detective Precure!" Akane Kumada and Yuka Masui collaborate on the ending theme song, "Naze? Nazo?! ANSWER." These songs promise to capture the spirit of the anime.
The Creative Team
Koji Kawasaki, known for his work as an episode director on Hugtto! Precure, takes on the role of series director for Star Detective Precure!. Isao Murayama, who has worked on Witchy Precure! and Star Twinkle Precure, is in charge of the series scripts. Akane Yano, known for her character designs in The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki, and the Is the order a rabbit? film, is designing the characters.
Miki Imai, who contributed to the art design for Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure, is in charge of the art design for the new series. Eiji Hamano, whose background art credits include Eiga Precure All Stars F, Eiga Tropical-Rouge! Precure: Yuki no Princess to Kiseki no Yubiwa!, and Star Twinkle Precure: Hoshi no Uta ni Omoi wo Komete, serves as the chief art director.
Satoshi Takezawa, who worked on color design for Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure♪ Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru Kirakkilive! and Eiga Maho Tsukai Precure! Kiseki no Henshin! Cure Mofurun! films, is in charge of color design. Yoshiyuki Anzai, known for his compositing direction of photography in the Eiga Maho Tsukai Precure! Kiseki no Henshin! Cure Mofurun! film and You and Idol Precure♪, takes on the same role for this new series. Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase, who both composed the music for the Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure♪ Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru Kirakkilive! film and the You and Idol Precure♪ series, are composing the music for Star Detective Precure!.

The You and Idol Precure♪ television anime premiered on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and 22 other affiliated channels throughout Japan on February 2, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. Crunchyroll is also streaming this series as it airs.
The Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure♪ (You and Idol Precure♪ the Movie) opened in theaters on September 12. The second season for Petitcure ~Precure Fairies~, the Precure franchise's short anime spinoff centering around the little familiar mascots of the franchise's magical girls, premiered on October 9.
