The American Library Association (ALA) has revealed its selections for the "2025 Best Graphic Novels for Adults," "2025 Best Graphic Novels for Children," and the "2026 Rainbow Book List." These lists highlight outstanding works in the graphic novel and comic book formats, catering to diverse age groups and interests.

Best Graphic Novels for Children

The "2025 Best Graphic Novels for Children" list features a notable manga title. Mai Matsuda's Hikaru in the Light! volume 1 was recognized in the Fiction for Middle Readers category, specifically for readers in grades 3-4, aged 8-10. This selection underscores the growing popularity and recognition of manga among younger audiences. Furthermore, the Non-Fiction list for the same age range included Whose Poo Is This?: The Golden Poo, a Korean comic written by Song-eui Park and illustrated by Duck-Young Kim.
