The Expanding World of Haikyu!! Gaming
Haikyu!! ALL Challengers isn't the first time the franchise has spiked into the mobile gaming arena. Earlier in March 2024, Changyou and Prophet Games launched the Haikyu!! Fly High smartphone game, also based on Haruichi Furudate's original manga. Furthermore, KLab and Garena rolled out another game version in July 2025 across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. These multiple adaptations demonstrate the strong global demand for interactive Haikyu!! experiences, and ALL Challengers aims to carve out its unique niche with its training simulation approach.
The Enduring Legacy of the Haikyu!! Franchise
The enduring popularity of Haikyu!! stems from its rich source material. Haruichi Furudate's original manga, which began its serialization in 2011, captivated readers until its conclusion in July 2020. Shueisha published its 45th and final compiled book volume in November 2020. Viz Media played a crucial role in bringing the manga to a global audience, publishing it digitally and in print, often simultaneously with its Japanese release. MANGA Plus also provided digital access for English readers.
The anime adaptation, produced by Production I.G, has been equally successful, bringing the thrilling matches and character development to life on screen. The first television anime season premiered in April 2014, followed by a second season in October 2015 and a third season in October 2016. The fourth season, Haikyu!! To The Top, was split into two halves, with the first premiering in January 2020 and the second half, delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually premiering in October 2020.
The cinematic journey of Haikyu!! continues to excite fans. HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle (Gekijōban Haikyu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen), the first of a two-part Haikyu!! Final sequel film project, debuted in Japan in February 2024 to massive success, breaking box office records. It then screened in North American theaters in May 2024, offering both subtitled and dubbed versions. Looking ahead, the franchise's second sequel film, Gekijōban Haikyū!! VS Chiisana Kyojin (Haikyu!! Vs. The Little Giant), is slated to open in Japanese theaters in 2027. This upcoming film will be accompanied by a special anime titled "Haikyū!! Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro" (Where Monsters Go), further expanding the anime's narrative.
