Beyond the main series, it also features both cinematic masterpieces: Gurren Lagann the Movie -Childhood's End- and Gurren Lagann the Movie -The Lights in the Sky Are Stars-. A unique highlight of this set is the inclusion of two versions of the anime's sixth episode: the special Blu-ray Disc cut, "There Are Some Things I Just Have to See!!," and the original broadcast version, "Sit In the Hot Tub 'Til You're Sick!" This dual presentation offers a fascinating look at the production differences and gives fans a complete viewing experience.
Adding to the excitement is the Gurren Lagann the Movie 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc. This special release celebrates the films' 15th anniversary, originally marked in 2023, by presenting both movies masterfully remastered in breathtaking 4K resolution. Prepare to witness the stunning visuals and explosive action of "Childhood's End" and "The Lights in the Sky Are Stars" like never before. A significant bonus for North American fans is the inclusion of the English dub for both films, which made its debut during the films' revival screenings in 2024. This marks a prime opportunity to experience the films with your preferred audio track in spectacular clarity. The original Gurren Lagann television anime series first captivated audiences in 2007, quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon that spawned two anime films, multiple OVAs, various manga adaptations, spinoffs, and even three stage plays, cementing its legacy as a beloved classic. The first film, Gurren Lagann the Movie –Childhood's End–, premiered in September 2008, followed by Gurren Lagann the Movie – The Lights in the Sky Are Stars– in April 2009.
