Crunchyroll has announced an exciting development for fans of the South Korean webtoon, Overgeared. The television anime adaptation, titled Tempal: Item no Chikara (Tempal ~The Power of Items~), will stream a same-day English dub on Crunchyroll. This brings the popular fantasy story of Grid and his legendary blacksmithing journey directly to English-speaking audiences.

Overgeared Story Summary
The story follows Youngwoo Shin, a struggling individual in real life who finds solace in the VR game Satisfy. As Grid the Warrior, he's initially mediocre until he discovers a tome of legendary blacksmith knowledge. Using it resets his levels, forcing him to hone skills and seek allies. However, Grid's true power comes from crafting and acquiring god-tier items, offering a unique take on fantasy progression. Yen Press publishes the webtoon in English under its Ize Press label.

J.C. Staff is producing the anime, with Ayako Kōno directing. Kenta Ihara handles series scripts and character designs. Yoshikazu Iwanami is the sound director, and Yoshiaki Fujisawa composes the music. The opening theme is "SATISFY" by Re:name, and the ending theme is "Ray of Emotion" by TAO. Premiere and Streaming
Tempal ~The Power of Items~ premieres on Tokyo MX and BS11 on October 2 at 11:30 p.m. (10:30 a.m. EDT). Crunchyroll will stream the anime. Crunchyroll also screened the anime on September 21 as part of its "Crunchyroll Anime Nights" program in U.S. and Canadian theaters, featuring Japanese audio with English subtitles.
Webtoon and Web Novel Background
The anime is based on the popular Overgeared webtoon, written by Dong Wook Lee with art by Team Argo, which in turn is based on Sae Nal Park's web novel. Yen Press releases the webtoon in English, with the 11th volume out recently. Both the webtoon and original web novel are also available digitally on Tapas and WuxiaWorld.
