The Story Behind Look Back

Tatsuki Fujimoto first debuted the "Look Back" one-shot manga on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ platform in July 2021. It was an instant hit, garnering over 2.5 million views on its first day alone. Both Viz Media and MANGA Plus quickly made the manga available digitally in English, with Viz Media releasing a print edition in September 2022. The story introduces readers to Fujino, an overly confident aspiring artist, and Kyomoto, a reclusive talent. Despite their contrasting personalities, their shared passion for drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together. Viz Media describes the manga as a poignant story of growing up and moving forward, a narrative only Fujimoto, with his distinctive voice, could craft.

Tatsuki Fujimoto's Legacy Continues

Fujimoto's impact on the manga world is undeniable. His most famous work, Chainsaw Man, first captivated readers in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018, concluding its first part, the "Kōan" (Public Safety) arc, in December 2020. The ongoing second part, titled "Gakkō-hen" (School Arc), began on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ in July 2022 and recently concluded on March 24 (March 25 in Japan). Before Chainsaw Man and Look Back, Fujimoto also gained recognition for his manga Fire Punch. The upcoming live-action film adaptation of "Look Back" is another testament to the enduring appeal and versatility of Fujimoto's storytelling, bringing his unique vision to a new cinematic dimension.
