The popular idol group Snow Man member Daisuke Sakuma is confirmed to be part of the anime's cast.

Idol Joins Anime Cast

Daisuke Sakuma is taking on the role of Chun. Chun is presented as a sparrow mascot from the Chun Guidebook, an item that the character Suzume possesses within the series. This mascot character is integral to the narrative, providing explanations and sharing various trivia about the food items that Suzume consumes throughout her experiences. This significant casting announcement connects a prominent figure from the music world to the anime production, adding anticipation for the series.

Upcoming Broadcast and Streaming Details

The first episode of The Food Diary of Miss Maid anime is scheduled for an advance streaming premiere on April 1 at 12:00 a.m. JST. This early viewing opportunity will be available on multiple streaming platforms in Japan, including the d Anime Store, ABEMA, U-NEXT, and Anime Hodai. Following the advance streaming, the anime will make its television debut on April 5. Tokyo MX will air the series at 10:00 p.m. JST, which corresponds to 9:00 a.m. EDT. BS Asahi will broadcast the anime at 11:00 p.m. JST on the same day. Further broadcasts are set for April 6 on YTV and April 7 on AT-X. Beginning with the second episode, the anime will offer simultaneous streaming alongside its television broadcast, commencing on April 5 at 10:00 p.m. JST. An advance screening event for the first three episodes of the anime was held on February 20 at the Animate Theater in Tokyo.

The Main Voice Acting Ensemble

The cast for The Food Diary of Miss Maid anime features a talented group of voice actors. Kana Ichinose is cast in the lead role as Suzume Tachibana. Chihiro Sunou will voice Ricotta Fresca. Chiaki Abe is responsible for designing the characters for the anime. The musical score for the series is composed by Katsutoshi Kitagawa from ROUND TABLE, produced by Lantis. Kitagawa's previous compositions include Buddy Daddies and Chobits. Hiroto Morishita serves as the sound director at Dax Production, having previously worked on 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life and Wistoria: Wand and Sword.

A Maid's Culinary Adventures in Japan

Kodansha USA Publishing describes the story of The Food Diary of Miss Maid, which centers on Suzume Tachibana, a maid-in-training. She finds herself in Japan for a year, and her primary activity during this time is to experience and eat Japanese food. The narrative follows Suzume as she tries a diverse range of Japanese culinary delights. Her gastronomic journey includes a variety of sweets such as taiyaki and melon bread, alongside savory snacks like takoyaki and onigiri. The manga suggests that while Suzume wholeheartedly satisfies her own appetite through these delicious treats, her experiences might also stimulate the appetites of readers.

Manga's Publication History

Susumu Maeya's manga series, Maid-san wa Taberu Dake, from which the anime is adapted, first debuted on Kodansha's Comic Days website in December 2019. The digital serialization of the manga is currently ongoing. Kodansha published the manga's fifth compiled book volume on November 12. For readers in English-speaking territories, Kodansha USA has been releasing the series digitally. They released the fourth volume of the manga digitally in February 2023, making the story accessible to a wider international audience.
