The Dangers in My Heart TV Anime Gets 3rd Season in 2027

A Third Season Confirmed

Fans of the anime adaptation of Norio Sakurai's popular manga, The Dangers in My Heart, have a significant reason to celebrate. At an event held on Saturday, TV Asahi officially announced that the beloved series will receive a third season. This continuation of the narrative is slated to make its debut in 2027, promising further exploration of the characters and their evolving relationships. The announcement signals a strong commitment to the ongoing animation of the critically acclaimed story, building anticipation among its dedicated viewership worldwide.

Visual Preview from Character Designer

Accompanying the exciting news of the upcoming third season, character designer Masato Katsumata released a visual specifically for this new installment. The shared artwork offers a first glimpse into the aesthetic and tone that the 2027 season will present. While this visual provides an early look, TV Asahi has not yet disclosed any further staff members who will be involved in the production of the third season, keeping much of the creative team's details under wraps for now.

Past Seasons and Global Accessibility

The journey of The Dangers in My Heart on television began with its first season, which premiered on TV Asahi and its various affiliated networks in April 2023. This initial run was featured prominently within the "NUMAnimation" programming block, a recognized slot for anime enthusiasts. International audiences were provided timely access to the series, with HIDIVE streaming the anime as it aired in Japan. Additionally, Netflix expanded the show's reach by streaming the series in numerous countries across the globe, though this excluded the United States and Canada. The second season then followed, premiering in Japan in January 2024. Similar to its predecessor, HIDIVE provided concurrent streaming of the second season as it broadcasted in Japan, and further enhanced its offering with an English dubbed version, catering to a wider English-speaking audience.

The Dangers in My Heart on the Big Screen

Beyond the television series, the world of The Dangers in My Heart expanded with a compilation film titled The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie. This cinematic presentation opened in Japan on February 13, offering a condensed and revisited experience of the anime's narrative. The film also made its way to the United States, where HIDIVE organized screenings on February 16, presenting the movie in Japanese with English subtitles. An English dubbed version was also made available for screening on February 18. The film achieved notable success, selling more than 170,000 tickets globally, with screenings held in various regions including the United States, countries in Latin America, France, Germany, Italy, and select parts of Asia, demonstrating its broad international appeal.

Expanding Universe with Anime Spinoffs

The franchise has seen further animated development with the Twi-Yaba spinoff manga also receiving an anime adaptation. This additional animated series premiered in December 2023, providing fans with another facet of the Dangers in My Heart universe to explore. This expansion indicates the growing success and popularity of Norio Sakurai's original creation, branching out into diverse animated content to satisfy its growing fanbase.

The Original Manga's Premise

Seven Seas Entertainment, a prominent licensor of manga, has secured the rights to the main manga series, making it available to English-speaking readers. They succinctly describe the core narrative: "Ichikawa Kyotaro, a boy barely clinging to the bottom rung of his school's social ladder, secretly believes he's the tortured lead in some psychological thriller. He spends his days dreaming up ways to disrupt his classmates' peaceful lives and pining after Anna Yamada, the class idol. But Kyotaro's not nearly the troubled teen he pretends to be and it turns out Anna's a bit odd herself!" This synopsis outlines the intriguing dynamic between the two central characters, setting the stage for their unique high school romance.

Manga Publication Journey

Norio Sakurai originally launched the manga series in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in March 2018. Following its initial run, the manga transitioned to Akita Shoten's Champion Cross manga website in April 2018, continuing its publication online. A further shift occurred in July 2018 when Champion Cross merged with Akita Shoten's other manga website, Champion Tap!, to form the new combined platform, Manga Cross. The Dangers in My Heart manga subsequently moved to this new website, where it has continued its serialization. Akita Shoten released the manga's 13th compiled book volume on January 8, while Seven Seas Entertainment published the 12th volume for its audience on February 24. The series is set to conclude its run with its 14th volume, bringing the beloved story to its ultimate conclusion.

Diverse Adaptations and Spinoffs

The Dangers in My Heart universe is not limited to manga and anime. A light novel adaptation of the series also shipped in Japan in September 2024. This novel was penned by Kota Nozomi, known for works such as When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace, with illustrations provided by both Norio Sakurai, the original creator, and sune. Further expanding the manga realm, Haika Nanasaka launched another manga spinoff titled Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai, which translates to The Dangers in My Heart: A Romantic Comedy Will Not Start. This spinoff began its serialization on the Champion Cross manga website on July 22, introducing yet another narrative perspective within the established universe.
