That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 4th Season Anime Unveils New Trailer, Key Visual, Theme Song Artists

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Announced

The popular anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is returning for a fourth season. A new trailer, key visual, and details about the theme songs were revealed recently. The anime is officially titled Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken in Japan.

Theme Song Artists Revealed

Eir Aoi will perform the opening theme song, titled "Esoragoto," which translates to "Pipe Dream." CiON will perform the ending theme song, titled "Katsubo," which translates to "Craving."

Premiere Date and Streaming Information

The fourth season is scheduled to premiere on April 3 on NTV's "Friday Anime Night" programming block at 11:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time. It will also air on BS11 starting April 4 at 10:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time. The series will be available on various streaming services at 11:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time. Crunchyroll has confirmed that they will stream the anime as it airs in Japan.

Length of the Season

The fourth season will be a lengthy one, running for a total of five cours, which translates to five quarters of a year. The first two cours will air consecutively without a break.

Returning Staff and Cast

Studio 8-Bit is returning to handle the animation production for the fourth season. Miho Okasaki will reprise her role as the voice of the protagonist, Rimuru Tempest.

Original Story and Popularity

Fuse originally serialized the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime story on the "Shosetsuka ni Naro" website from 2013 to 2016. Since then, the series has gained significant popularity, accumulating over 400 million page views. Micro Magazine began publishing the series in print with illustrations by Mitz Vah in 2014. The novel series concluded with its 23rd and final volume on November 29. A spinoff side story volume, Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Toaru Kyuka no Sugoshi-kata, which translates to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: How to Spend a Certain Vacation, was released alongside the final volume. A side-story series based on the novels is planned for release in 2026.

English Release of the Novels

Yen Press is responsible for publishing the English version of the novel series.

Previous Anime Adaptations

The first television anime adaptation of Taiki Kawakami's manga, which is itself an adaptation of the light novel series, premiered in October 2018. Crunchyroll streamed the anime, and FUNimation Entertainment provided an English dub.

Second Season and Spinoff

The second television anime season premiered its first cour in January 2021. The television anime of Shiba's spinoff manga, The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura Nikki Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken), premiered on Tokyo MX in April 2021. Following the conclusion of The Slime Diaries, the second cour of the second season began in July 2021, resulting in nine consecutive months of television anime content from the franchise in 2021.

Scarlet Bond Film

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond, a film based on the series, was released in Japan in November 2022.

Coleus' Dream Anime

The three-episode anime, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Coleus' Dream, was released in Japan in November 2023 with all three episodes being available. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime with both subtitles and an English dub.

Third Season Airing

The anime's third season premiered in April 2024. The season aired for two continuous cours, running for a half-year.

Tears of the Azure Sea Film

The second anime film, titled Gekijo-ban Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Sokai no Namida-hen, which translates to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea, was released in Japan on February 27. Crunchyroll will screen the film in theaters in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland on May 1. The film will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles and with an English dub.

Rescreening of Previous Film

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures will be rescreening the previous film, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond, with an exclusive 10-minute sneak peek at the new movie for a single day on April 20.
