The staff behind the fourth season of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- anime has officially announced key details regarding its upcoming debut. A new visual was unveiled alongside information about the ending theme song artist and its confirmed premiere date of April 8. Accompanying these announcements, a video was released, offering a first listen to the ending theme song, titled "Ender Ember." This musical piece is a collaborative effort between the acclaimed artists MYTH&ROID, known for their work on Overlord, and TK from Ling Tosite Sigure, recognized for contributions to Tokyo Ghoul.

Season Structure and Release Schedule

The fourth season of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is planned to unfold across nineteen episodes. These episodes will be distinctly divided into two narrative arcs, providing viewers with a comprehensive story progression. The season is slated to commence with "The Loss Arc," which will make its initial broadcast on April 8. Following this, the second major segment, "The Recapture Arc," is scheduled to begin its run on August 12. This episodic division aims to deliver a structured and engaging viewing experience for fans.

Regional Collaboration and Streaming Access

In an exciting development, the anime production is also undertaking a special collaboration with Tottori Prefecture, a region in Japan notable for hosting one of the country's largest sand dunes. To mark this partnership, the staff has released a unique collaboration visual depicting the Auguria Dunes, blending the world of Re:ZERO with the natural beauty of the real-world location. For international viewers, Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will be streaming the anime's fourth season, ensuring broad accessibility to the series as it airs.

New Characters and Voice Talent

The upcoming season will introduce several new characters, expanding the already rich cast of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. Among these new additions are Shaula, who will be voiced by Fairouz Ai, a prominent talent in the voice acting industry. Additionally, the character Reid Astrea will make his appearance, with Tomokazu Sugita lending his voice to the role. Opening Theme Announcement

In addition to the ending theme, details about the opening theme song have also been shared. The opening theme, titled "Recollect," will be performed by Konomi Suzuki and the American rapper Ashnikko. This collaborative track has been produced by Giga and TeddyLoid, promising an energetic start to each episode of the new season. The combination of these artists is anticipated to deliver a distinct auditory experience for viewers.

Recent Series History

The third season of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- was divided into two parts. Its "Shūgeki-hen" or Attack Arc premiered in October 2024 across various channels including TOKYO MX and AT-X, starting with a special ninety-minute episode. The subsequent "Hangeki-hen" or Counterattack Arc began airing on February 5. Each of these arcs consisted of eight episodes. Crunchyroll provided streaming access for the entire third season as it aired in Japan.

Previous Iterations and Spinoffs

The original twenty-five-episode first anime season, based on Tappei Nagatsuki's light novel series Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, made its debut in April 2016. Crunchyroll streamed this initial season as it aired in Japan. Crunchyroll also offers streaming for the short anime spinoff series Re:Zero ~Starting Break Time From Zero~ and Re:PETIT ~Starting Life in Another World from PETIT~. Funimation released the television anime on home video in June 2018, including an English dubbed version.

Original Video Anime and Director's Cut

The anime franchise has also extended into two original video anime or OVA volumes. These include Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Memory Snow and Re:ZERO - Starting Life in Another World - The Frozen Bond. Crunchyroll began streaming the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Memory Snow OVA in February 2020 and subsequently added Re:ZERO - Starting Life in Another World - The Frozen Bond to its streaming catalog in April 2020. An updated version of the television anime's first season, known as Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Director's Cut, premiered in January 2020. This new edit of the initial twenty-five episodes incorporated some new footage and reconfigured the episodes to fit a one-hour timeslot. Crunchyroll continues to stream this Director's Cut version.

Second Season Details

The anime's second season initially premiered in July 2020. This release was delayed from its original April 2020 premiere date due to the effects of COVID-19 on the production schedule. The latter half of the second season then premiered in January 2021. Throughout its broadcast, Crunchyroll streamed the second season as it aired in Japan, continuing its commitment to provide global access to the series.
