Danganronpa 2x2 Announced with New Scenario and Limited Edition Package

Spike Chunsoft has revealed Danganronpa 2x2, a new version of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, set to launch in 2026. The announcement came with a pre-order trailer showcasing the new scenario and a special limited edition package called the Psycho Tropical Vacation Package. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Psycho Tropical Vacation Package Details

The Psycho Tropical Vacation Package is a limited edition offering for Danganronpa fans. It includes several exclusive items such as an RSVLTS Reversible Psycho Tropical Hat, Kidrobot 3" Psycho Tropical Monokuma and Monomi Figures, a soundtrack, and a unique clamshell-style outer box. This package is designed to provide a premium experience for collectors and enthusiasts of the Danganronpa series.

New Alternate Scenario

Danganronpa 2x2 introduces a brand new alternate story that features different victims and culprits compared to the original game. This new scenario is triggered by a specific incident and Spike Chunsoft has stated that its content size is comparable to the original Danganronpa 2 storyline. Players can look forward to experiencing a completely fresh narrative within the established world of Danganronpa 2, with new mysteries to solve and characters to interact with.

Visual and Production Enhancements

In addition to the new scenario, Danganronpa 2x2 will feature enhanced visuals and improved production value. The original version of the game is being updated to take advantage of the capabilities of modern gaming platforms. There have been changes to the voice cast for some key characters. Kinuta Oshiro will be taking over the role of Monomi, replacing the late Takako Sasuga. Additionally, Wasabi Mizuta will be voicing Monokuma, stepping in for the late TARAKO. Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair was initially released in Japan for the PlayStation Portable in July 2012. It later came to the PlayStation Vita in Japan in October 2013 and in the West in September 2014. Danganronpa Decadence Collection

The Danganronpa Decadence game collection was released as a physical exclusive on the Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe in December 2021. This collection includes Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, and Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp.
