Kingdom Manga Celebrates Two Decades with Special Campaign

The popular manga franchise Kingdom has announced its second "Social Kingdom" campaign, marking a significant milestone in the series' history. This renewed initiative, officially titled the "Social Kingdom Saien" project, is set to commence on March 19 at midnight Japan Time, which corresponds to March 18 at 11:00 a.m. EDT. The campaign is specifically designed to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Yasuhisa Hara's widely acclaimed manga.

Fan Engagement Through Creative Redrawing

Fans of the Kingdom manga will have a unique opportunity to participate directly in the anniversary festivities. The campaign allows individuals to select and redraw their favorite panels from a curated collection of "20 legendary chapters." Yasuhisa Hara, the creator of Kingdom, personally chose these chapters. A total of 2,289 distinct panels will be made available for redrawing, with participation operating on a first-come-first-serve basis. This structured approach ensures a wide range of fan contributions across the selected iconic moments of the series.

Illustrious Guest Lineup Joins the Celebration

The anniversary campaign will also feature contributions from twenty special guests, adding a professional dimension to the fan-driven event. The roster includes notable figures from various creative fields, encompassing celebrated manga artists, illustrators, musicians, and comedians. Each guest will contribute their unique artistic perspective to the campaign.

Revisiting a Past Campaign

This marks the second instance of the Kingdom series launching a "Social Kingdom" campaign. The inaugural campaign took place in 2012 and served to celebrate the premiere of the Kingdom anime adaptation. That initial event also featured a range of distinguished participants from the manga and anime industries. The returning campaign builds upon the success and spirit of its predecessor.

Notable Absences and Consistent Participation

The first "Social Kingdom" campaign in 2012 saw the involvement of several prominent figures, including Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, and Masashi Kishimoto, known for Naruto. Hirohiko Araki and Takehiko Inoue also participated in the initial campaign. For the current "Social Kingdom Saien" project, Eiichiro Oda and Masashi Kishimoto will not be taking part. However, both Hirohiko Araki and Takehiko Inoue are among the twenty special guests who are returning to contribute to the celebration of Kingdom's 20th anniversary.
