Dark Horse Unveils Deluxe H.P. Lovecraft Manga Edition
Dark Horse Comics has announced the upcoming release of Gou Tanabe's H.P. Lovecraft's The Dunwich Horror manga in a new Deluxe Edition. This highly anticipated hardcover volume will become available on September 29. The substantial book spans 650 pages and will retail for US$49.99, offering a comprehensive collection of the acclaimed adaptation.
The Dunwich Horror Unveiled
The narrative of The Dunwich Horror delves into a chilling tale that begins on February 2, 1913, in the isolated town of Dunwich. This day, known locally by an ancient name, marked the birth of Wilbur Whateley, a child of mysterious parentage. Descended from a Puritan family that fled Salem in 1692 to settle Dunwich, Wilbur's lineage is shrouded in dark legend. Dr. Henry Armitage, the esteemed head librarian at Miskatonic University, journeys to Dunwich to encounter this prodigy, with whom he has exchanged correspondence on profound and unsettling lore. Dr. Armitage is confronted by the shocking sight of invaluable occult tomes decaying within the Whateley farmhouse, and the eerie, goatish appearance of Wilbur himself, for whom these books represent his sole education. Wilbur's pursuit of knowledge leads him to covet the Latin edition of the Necronomicon, a prized possession of Miskatonic University. Undeterred by potential refusal, Wilbur is prepared to employ other means to acquire the text. He was brought into the world with a horrifying objective: to establish a gateway for otherworldly entities to return to Earth.
