Television Anime Confirmed for Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito

The production company Kadokawa has officially launched a dedicated website for Makiburo's light novel series, Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito. The launch confirmed that the previously announced anime adaptation will be a television series. This highly anticipated villainess drama is scheduled to premiere in 2027.

Main Cast Unveiled

The primary voice cast for the upcoming television anime has been revealed. Esteemed voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro will take on the role of Remilia Rose Graupner. Sawashiro's extensive career includes notable performances in series such as Yofukashi no Uta. Joining her in the cast, Rie Takahashi will voice the character of Emi. Takahashi is recognized for her diverse roles, including her significant work in Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu.

Key Production Staff

The creative team bringing Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito to the screen has been announced. Shigehisa Iida, known for his directorial contributions including episode direction for Princess Connect! Re:Dive, will serve as the director for the series. Hiroyuki Yoshino, whose past works include the series composition and script for World Trigger, is handling both the series composition and script for this adaptation. Reiko Nagasawa, celebrated for her character designs in Takt Op. Destiny, is responsible for designing the characters. The musical score will be composed by Shuuji Katayama, recognized for his work on Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku. Makiburo originally launched the Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito villainess drama series on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in May 2020. Ichijinsha began publishing the light novel under its Ichijinsha Novels imprint, featuring illustrations by Mai Murasaki. The first volume was released in February 2021. The second volume of the light novel series subsequently went on sale in February 2024.

Manga Adaptation Concludes

A manga adaptation of the series, illustrated by Nazuna Shiraume, commenced serialization on the Comic Pool website in November 2021. The manga later transferred its serialization to Comic Lake. The final chapter of this manga adaptation was released recently on Friday. The sixth volume of the manga adaptation was shipped in June 2025.

Detailed Series Premise

The narrative of Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito centers on Emi Kobayashi, who experiences a profound heartbreak over her own death. She soon realizes she has been reincarnated into the world of an otome game, inhabiting the body of her cherished character, the villainess Remilia Rosa Graupner. Emi, by her inherent nature, is kind and generous. She dedicates herself to ensuring Remilia lives the fulfilling life she truly deserves. Through Emi's inherent warmth, she successfully charms every key character within the game's world, thereby securing a bright and promising future for Remilia. For an entire decade, Remilia observes Emi's actions from within, content and satisfied as long as the tender-hearted Emi finds happiness.

However, the arrival of the protagonist, Pina Blanche, casts a shadow over Emi's tranquil world. Pina immediately reveals her true manipulative nature, resorting to underhanded and deceitful methods to systematically destroy Remilia's carefully built reputation. This relentless campaign of sabotage turns everyone against Remilia, who is still under Emi's control. As overwhelming despair consumes Emi, she loses control over her body, and Remilia reclaims her consciousness and agency. Remilia, unlike Emi, possesses a less forgiving spirit and is not inclined to simply allow Pina to have her way without consequence. She unequivocally swears to exact revenge and unequivocally demonstrate to everyone who wronged Emi the formidable power of a true villainess.
