Tao Tsuchiya Joins Anpanman Adventure as Pantan

Alice in Borderland star Tao Tsuchiya is set to lend her voice to the upcoming Anpanman film, "Soreike! Anpanman: Pantan to Yakusoku no Hoshi" (Pantan and the Promised Star). The 37th installment in the long-running franchise will feature Tsuchiya as Pantan, a charming red panda.

Pantan's Quest for a Promised Treasure

The film revolves around Pantan, a new character driven by a promise made to an adventurer long ago. Pantan is on a quest to find a treasure believed to be hidden within a rainbow star in the night sky. The story unfolds as Pantan encounters Anpanman, who offers his assistance in fulfilling Pantan's quest.

Production Team

Hiroyuki Yano, a veteran director of numerous previous Anpanman films, is at the helm of this new adventure. The script is penned by Shoji Yonemura, another familiar name in the Anpanman franchise. The film's music will be composed by Taku Izumi and Hiroaki Kondo, both seasoned composers for the series.

Release Date

"Soreike! Anpanman: Pantan to Yakusoku no Hoshi" is scheduled to open in Japan on June 26. Fans of the Anpanman series can look forward to another heartwarming and exciting adventure with their favorite characters.

Previous Anpanman Film

The previous film in the franchise, "Soreike! Anpanman: Chapon no Hero!," was released in Japan last June. The film secured the eighth position in its opening weekend and grossed 132,757,670 yen (approximately US$924,000) within its first three days.

Anpanman's Enduring Legacy

The Soreike! Anpanman television anime series has been a staple of Japanese animation since its debut in 1988. Anpanman films have been released annually each summer since 1989, captivating audiences of all ages. The 2014 film, "Soreike! Anpanman: Ringo Boya to Minna no Negai" (Let's Go! Anpanman: The Apple Boy and Everyone's Wishes), held significance as the first film released after the passing of Anpanman creator Takashi Yanase.
