New Anime "Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?" Announces Cast, Theme Songs, and Premiere Date

The official website for the television anime "Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?" has unveiled exciting updates, including additional cast members, the theme songs, the first promotional video, and a key visual. This romantic comedy manga, created by Norishiro-chan and Sakana Uozumi, is set to premiere on April 8 at 11:45 p.m. on TV Asahi's IMAnimation programming block. Following the initial broadcast, it will also be available on BS Asahi and AT-X.

Additional Cast Members Revealed

The announcement includes the addition of several talented voice actors to the cast. Jun Kasama, known for his role in "Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai," will be voicing Genichirou Ijichi. Konomi Kohara, recognized for her performance in "Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san," will be playing Sayu Amamiya. Atsumi Tanezaki, acclaimed for her work in "Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru," will be taking on the role of Kakeru Ijichi. Finally, Emiri Katou, famous for her role in "Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu," will be voicing Hibiki Ijichi. These actors add depth and excitement to the already anticipated anime.

Theme Songs and Promotional Video

The opening theme song, "HIDE AND SEEK," will be performed by the popular K-pop group i-dle. The ending theme song, "Isshou Nakako," will be sung by sunsoogirl. Both theme songs are previewed in the newly released promotional video, offering fans a first taste of the anime's musical landscape. The PV provides a glimpse into the world and characters of "Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?," further heightening anticipation for its premiere.

Production Staff Details

Arata Mita, who previously served as an episode director for "High Card," is helming the anime at TMS Entertainment. Kazuhiko Inukai, known for their script work on "Kanojo mo Kanojo," is handling the series composition. Lion Matsuda, who worked as a sub-character designer for "Eiyuuou, Bu wo Kiwameru Tame Tenseisu: Soshite, Sekai Saikyou no Minarai Kishi♀," is designing the characters. The music is being composed by Kou Satou. This talented team ensures a high-quality adaptation of the original manga.

Manga Publication History

Norishiro-chan and Uozumi began serializing the manga in Comic Zenon magazine in August 2021. Coamix published the 11th volume in October 2025. "Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?" has reached a cumulative circulation of 500,000 copies. The manga's popularity speaks to its engaging story and relatable characters.

English License and Publication

Yen Press licensed the manga in English in April 2025 and published the first volume in October 2025. This allows English-speaking audiences to enjoy the series.
