Live-Action Adaptation of "Ladies on Top" Coming Soon

A new live-action series based on the popular manga "Ladies on Top" is set to premiere on March 5. The series will be part of the "Dramaphil" programming block on MBS. Fans of the manga and romantic comedies can look forward to this role-reversal story.

Cast and Crew

The series stars Hayato Takao, leader of the group ONE N' ONLY, as Takayuki Shinomiya. Takao is known for his roles in "Yukari-kun wa Gap ga Zurui" and "Battle King! -We'll rise again-." Kohaku Shida, famous for her role in "Avataro Sentai Donbrothers," will play Mitsuki Kajitani. Shida has also appeared in "Nemurubaka" and "No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger." The series is directed by Yuri Yagihashi, with scripts written by Miki Matsugasako and Haruna Takekawa.

Story Overview

"Ladies on Top" tells the story of Mizuki, an office lady who desires a different kind of love. She finds traditional romances unappealing and longs for a relationship where she can take the lead. Mizuki discovers Shinomiya, a coworker who is attracted to assertive women. Together, they explore a relationship that challenges traditional gender roles. They discover that reversing these roles can be both empowering and exciting.

Manga Details

The original manga, written and illustrated by NEJIGANAMETA, was launched on Shogakukan's Ura Sunday Jyoshibu and Manga ONE apps in 2020. The series concluded in April 2022, with Shogakukan publishing six compiled volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment has released all six volumes of the manga in English.

Other Works by NEJIGANAMETA

NEJIGANAMETA has also created other manga series. "Jigoku ni Ochite yo, Onii-chan" was launched in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine in July 2022 and ended in January 2024. Square Enix published the manga's fourth and final volume in February of the same year. Additionally, NEJIGANAMETA launched "Kore ga Saigo no XXX Kamo" on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch platform in November 2024 and ended it in December 2025. Shinchosha published the manga's third and final volume on January 6.
