Little Mouse's Red Vest Anime Adaptation Announced

The popular children's picture book series, Little Mouse's Red Vest, is getting an anime adaptation. Poplar Publishing Co., Ltd. made the announcement, revealing the cast, staff, and premiere date. The show is set to debut on April 4th on NHK Educational.

3D CG Animation

The anime will be a full 3D CG production. This marks a departure from the original picture books' hand-drawn style. The animation style may bring a fresh and modern look to the beloved characters.

Voice Acting Duo

Kenjiro Tsuda will voice the main character, Nezumi-kun. Mamiko Noto will voice Nemi-chan. Both are highly regarded voice actors with extensive careers in anime.

Tsuda and Noto Voice Entire Cast

In a surprising move, Kenjiro Tsuda and Mamiko Noto will voice every character in the anime. This is an unusual casting decision. It may create a unique and distinctive sound for the show.

Production Staff

Nobuyoshi Habara is directing the anime. He has worked on Fafner, Broken Blade, Star Blazers 2202, and My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's. Kanemori Yasuda is the character designer and CG director.

The story centers around Nezumi-kun, a small mouse known for his red vest. The character was previously featured in the Tobidasu Ehon 3D movie in 2010. The stories are aimed at young children.

The Little Mouse's Red Vest book series began in 1974. The first book was titled Nezumi-kun no Chokki. The series now spans 43 volumes. It has sold over 5 million copies.

Creators of the Series

Nakashiwo is the writer of the stories. Noriko Ueno provided the illustrations. Sadly, Noriko Ueno passed away on February 28, 2019. Her illustrations are integral to the series' charm.

Premiere Date
