'Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?' TV Anime Casts Nene Hieda

Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? Anime Announces New Cast Member and April Debut

The anime adaptation of Akira Konno's Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo manga, titled Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?, has revealed a new cast member and confirmed its premiere date for April. The official website announced that Nene Hieda will voice Makoto Mitsuki, a significant character in the series.

Nene Hieda Joins the Cast as Makoto Mitsuki

Nene Hieda will be portraying Makoto Mitsuki, who is Arata's childhood friend. Makoto has a bright and caring personality. She attends a different private middle school than Arata, which has limited their opportunities to spend time together. Her role seems to be important in Arata's life and could potentially provide emotional support as he navigates the unusual circumstances surrounding Kujima.

Anime to Air in April with Streaming Options

The anime is scheduled to debut in April and will be broadcast on several Japanese television networks, including Tokyo MX, MBS, BS-TBS, and AT-X. For viewers in Japan, the series will also be available for streaming on U-NEXT and Anime Hodai. Crunchyroll has acquired the rights to stream the anime internationally as it airs in Japan, making it accessible to a wider audience.

Main Cast and Production Team

The previously announced main cast includes Yuria Kozuki as Kujima, Ayumu Murase as Arata Kouda, Yohei Azakami as Suguru Kouda, Ryoko Shiraishi as Miyoshi Kouda, and Hirofumi Nojima as Masaomi Kouda.

The production team boasts experienced individuals. Noriyuki Nomata, known for his episode direction work on Assassination Classroom, Carole & Tuesday, and The Case Study of Vanitas, is directing the anime at Studio Hibari. Shinichiro Kimura, whose credits include A Little Snow Fairy Sugar and Venus Versus Virus, is serving as the series director. Yasunori Yamada, also involved in Venus Versus Virus and Motto To Love Ru, is in charge of overseeing the series scripts. Sakurako Mitsuhashi, an animation director for Hula Fulla Dance and My Happy Marriage, is designing the characters. Manami Kakudo is composing the music for the series.

Story Overview

The anime is described as a "bird home comedy." The story begins when Arata Kouda, a first-year middle school student, encounters a mysterious bird-like creature named Kujima in the autumn season. Kujima is hungry and yearns for Japanese cuisine. This leads Kujima to stay with the Kouda family. The Kouda family is currently experiencing a tense atmosphere due to Arata's older brother's failure to pass his college entrance exam. Kujima remains with the Kouda family throughout the winter until the arrival of warm spring.
