Kowloon Generic Romance Manga to Conclude Soon

Jun Mayuzuki's Kowloon Generic Romance manga is nearing its end. The 13th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine revealed that the manga will conclude in its next chapter. This final chapter, the 108th, will be published in the magazine's 20th issue on April 16. The 12th and final volume of the manga is scheduled to ship on April 17.

Manga Launch and Serialization Details

Mayuzuki, known for her work "After the Rain," launched the Kowloon Generic Romance manga in Weekly Young Jump in November 2019. The manga is also serialized on the Tonari no Young Jump website. However, the website releases are one chapter behind the magazine publications. In March 2025, Mayuzuki announced that the manga had entered its final arc.

Publication and Popularity

Shueisha published the 11th compiled book volume of the manga in April 2025. The manga has achieved significant popularity, with over 1.7 million copies currently in circulation.

English Release by Yen Press

Yen Press is releasing the manga in English. They describe the story as follows: "Welcome to Kowloon Walled City: a dystopian townscape where the people are brimming with nostalgia, and where the past, present, and future converge. Amid the hidden emotions and extraordinary daily lives of the men and women working in its confines, a tale of romance begins to unfold for real estate agent Reiko Kujirai―one that feels as familiar as Kowloon itself…" Yen Press is planning to release the manga's 11th volume on May 26.

Anime Adaptation

The manga received an anime adaptation. The anime premiered in April 2025. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. They also provided an English dub for international audiences.

Live-Action Film Adaptation

A live-action film adaptation of the manga was produced. The film opened in theaters in Japan on August 29. Prior to its theatrical release, the film was screened at the JAPAN CUTS: Festival of New Japanese Film event in New York on July 13.
