Square Enix is gearing up to release Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, a complete overhaul of the classic RPG, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. This isn't just a simple port; it's a ground-up remake that promises to deliver a fresh and engaging experience for both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

Release Date and Platforms

Mark your calendars for February 5th, as that's when Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will be launching on a wide range of platforms. You'll be able to play it on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store on Windows.

Third Adventure Log Video Showcases Vocations

To further build anticipation, Square Enix has released the third adventure log video. This video focuses specifically on the vocation system, a key element of Dragon Quest VII. Players will be able to see the various classes available and get a glimpse of how they impact gameplay.

Playable Demo Now Available

If you're eager to try the game before its official release, a playable demo is already available since January 7th. The best part is that your progress from the demo will carry over to the full game, so you won't have to start from scratch. As an added bonus, players who complete the demo will receive a Day Off Dress for Maribel as a reward.

Enhanced Story and New Mechanics

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined isn't just a visual upgrade; it also features an enhanced story that streamlines the overall experience. The developers have also introduced a "Moonlighting" mechanic, which allows characters to have two vocations at once, adding a new layer of depth to character customization. A "Monster Master" vocation has also been added. Furthermore, the remake includes various quality-of-life improvements designed to make the game more enjoyable for modern players.

Collector's and Digital Deluxe Editions

For those who want the ultimate Dragon Quest VII Reimagined experience, there are special editions available. The Collector's Edition includes a SteelBook case, a Smile Slime plush, a ship in a bottle figure, and three paid DLC packs. The Digital Deluxe Edition features 48 hours of early access, a unique costume for Ruff, and the same three DLC packs as the Collector's Edition.

A Remake Separate from the 3DS Version

It's important to note that Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is a separate project from the Nintendo 3DS remake, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past.
