Production Team and Studio

Earlier Release Date

Initially, the second season was scheduled to debut in 2025. This announcement of an April 2025 premiere date is welcome news for fans eager to dive back into the Hole.

Story Summary

For those unfamiliar with the series, Viz Media publishes the manga in English, and the first volume offers a glimpse into the bizarre and violent world of Dorohedoro:

"In a city so dismal it's known only as 'the Hole,' a clan of Sorcerers have been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious 'experiments' in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they're hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they'll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard-man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of 'cleaners' into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds."

Previous Season's Success

Yuichiro Hayashi also directed the first anime season at MAPPA. Hiroshi Seko was in charge of the series scripts, ensuring a faithful adaptation of the manga's complex plot. Tomohiro Kishi designed the characters, capturing their unique and often grotesque appearances. The music was composed by [K]NoW_NAME, adding another layer of atmosphere to the series.

The first anime season was released on Netflix in Japan in January 2020 and then streamed outside of Japan in May 2020. The season comprised of 12 episodes.
