Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Gears Up with New Content
The world of Demon Slayer video games is expanding, with Aniplex announcing exciting updates for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2. Fans can anticipate new characters and enhanced gameplay experiences.
Infinity Castle Character Pass Updates
The "Infinity Castle Part 1 Character Pass" is adding a host of new characters to the game's VS. Mode. Players can now utilize characters who appeared in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns film. The character roster includes Doma, Kaigaku, and Infinity Castle versions of popular characters.
Character Release Order
The characters are being released in a specific order. Kaigaku was added on October 30, followed by Zenitsu's Infinity Castle Version on December 2. Akaza's Infinity Castle version launched on December 19. The Infinity Castle version of Tanjiro is scheduled to launch on Friday, according to a trailer released by Aniplex on Monday. The remaining characters, Giyu, Shinobu, and Doma, will be released subsequently.
Free Update: Muzan Kibutsuji
Prior to these paid DLC additions, a free update was released on September 18, adding Muzan Kibutsuji to the VS. Mode. This provided players with an early opportunity to expand their character options.
Game Launch and Availability
The game originally launched in Japan on August 1 and in English on August 5. It is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series XS, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Players who purchased the English Deluxe Edition were granted early access, allowing them to play up to five days before the official release date.
Deluxe Edition Content
The digital deluxe edition includes several bonuses, enhancing the overall gaming experience. Players receive two Kimetsu Academy Character unlock keys for Kyojuro Rengoku and Tengen Uzui. Additionally, there are four character unlock keys for Tengen Uzui, Obanai Iguro, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Gyomei Himejima. The deluxe edition also includes VS. Mode system voices and costumes.
Japanese Special Edition
The Japanese release features a special edition with a physical figure and digital content, including in-game costumes. Pre-orders for the game included a special set of cases featuring illustrations from ufotable. Special digital deluxe versions are also available for purchase.
Story Mode and Playable Characters
The sequel game's story mode continues from the first game, incorporating the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. The VS. Mode boasts over 40 playable characters, including Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji, who are also offered as pre-order bonuses. All characters from the first game are included in the base roster, encompassing demons added in post-launch updates and Entertainment District Arc characters from the first game's paid DLC. All nine Hashira are available as playable characters.

The Hinokami Chronicles Legacy
The first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles game was released in Japan and English in Asia in October 2021. North America and Europe followed a day later, with versions for PS5, PS4, Xbox XS, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The Switch version launched in Japan and English in June 2022. The game has built a dedicated following and this sequel continues to expand upon that foundation.
