Ichiko Ima's horror manga, Hyakki Yakou Shou, also known as Beyond Twilight, is receiving a short anime adaptation. The premiere is set for April 7, generating excitement among fans of the supernatural series.

Cast and Staff Details

The anime features a talented cast, with Nobuhiko Okamoto voicing Ritsu, Ikumi Hasegawa as Tsukasa, and Hironori Kondo taking on the role of Seiran. Saya Fukase is directing the anime at IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with UWAN Pictures providing production cooperation. Taeko Miura is responsible for the sound direction, ensuring an immersive audio experience.

Theme Song Preview

The ending theme song, "Nani ni mo Narenai" by yangskinny, has been revealed in a trailer. The song adds another layer of intrigue to the anime, complementing the horror theme.

Broadcast and Streaming Information

The short anime will premiere on TV Kanagawa on April 7 at 9:55 p.m. JST. Following the broadcast, the anime will also be available on major online streaming services.

Manga Background

Hyakki Yakou Shou debuted in Nemuki magazine in 1995 and later moved to Nemuki+. The manga has achieved significant popularity, with over 7 million copies in circulation. The 31st compiled book volume was released in April 2024, with the 32nd volume scheduled for release on April 7.

Previous Recognition

The manga has received acclaim, including a recommendation at the 2005 Japanese Media Arts Festival and an Excellence Award at the 2006 Media Arts Festival. It was also a finalist for the Grand Prize at the 9th Tezuka Osamu Bunka-sho in 2005.

Synopsis

The story centers around Ritsu, who inherited the ability to see spirits and demons from his grandfather. After his grandfather's passing, Ritsu forms a contract with a demon named Blue Storm.

Previous Adaptations

Hyakki Yakou Shou has previously been adapted into stage plays in 2003 and 2006, as well as a live-action television series in 2007. The upcoming short anime adds to the list of adaptations.
