Akane-banashi Anime Holds World Premiere in U.S. in April

Akane-banashi Anime to Premiere in New York City and Screen at Anime Boston
The anime adaptation of Yūki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue's Akane-banashi manga is set to make its world premiere in New York City on April 1. This announcement was made by TV Asahi on Wednesday, revealing that the Japan Society will host the event. Following the premiere, a special screening is scheduled for Anime Boston on April 4.
New York Premiere Details
The world premiere at the Japan Society will showcase the anime's first episode. The event is scheduled for April 1 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Attendees will also be treated to rare behind-the-scenes footage. A performance by Canadian-born rakugo performer Katsura Sunshine is also planned. Tickets will be available for purchase starting March 2 on the Japan Society website. The cost is US$22 for Japan Society members and US$28 for non-members.
Anime Boston Screening
Anime Boston will host a special screening of Akane-banashi on April 4 at 7:00 p.m. EST. Similar to the New York premiere, Katsura Sunshine will perform and hold a talk at this screening. The Anime Boston screening is open to attendees of the convention. However, access will be subject to panel room capacity and availability.
Broadcast Information
The Akane-banashi anime will air on TV Asahi's "IMAnimation" programming block in April. TV Asahi has indicated that the anime will premiere on Japanese television after the U.S. screenings on April 1 and 4.

However, she witnesses a shocking incident during his performance for promotion to shin'uchi. Six years later, Akane, now a high school student, aims to become a shin'uchi herself. Suenaga and Moue launched the Akane-banashi manga in February 2022. Shueisha published the 20th compiled book volume on January 5. The manga has received nominations for awards. It was nominated for the 47th Kodansha Manga Awards and the 16th Manga Taisho awards in 2023. The manga also ranked at #4 in the 2023 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook.
English Release
Viz Media's Shonen Jump service and Shueisha's MANGA Plus service both publish the manga in English. Viz Media is also publishing the manga in print.
Recognition
The Akane-banashi manga has received recognition from library associations. It made the American Library Association's Young Adult Library Services Association's 2024 list of Great Graphic Novels for Teens. The New York Public Library also named the manga on its Best Books list for teens in 2023.
