The world of Keisuke Itagaki's renowned martial arts manga, Baki The Grappler, is once again set to captivate audiences with its second stage play adaptation. A Follow-Up to the First Stage Play

This production marks the second stage play adaptation of Itagaki's Baki The Grappler manga. The first stage play, titled Baki THE GRAPPLER STAGE -Chika Togiba-hen- (Baki The Grappler STAGE -Underground Arena Arc-), premiered at Shinjuku Face in December 2024. Hideaki Okuzumi choreographed the fight scenes for the first play, adding a layer of realism and excitement.

The Enduring Legacy of Baki The Grappler

Keisuke Itagaki's Baki The Grappler manga has captivated readers for decades. The original series ran for 42 volumes in Weekly Shonen Champion magazine from 1991 to 1999. Its success led to numerous sequels and adaptations, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of the martial arts manga genre.

Global Reach and English Publication

The Baki The Grappler manga is now reaching a wider audience through its English publication. Kodama Tales Inc., a subsidiary of Kyodo Printing Co., Ltd., began publishing the manga worldwide in English in October 2025. Kyodo Printing handles the printing of the physical versions in Japan. The ninth volume is expected to be published on February 1st.

Sequels and Ongoing Series

Following the original Baki The Grappler series, Itagaki continued the story with the 31-volume Baki sequel, which ran from 1999 to 2005. Media Do releases the English version of this sequel. He then published the 37-volume Hanma Baki manga from 2005 to 2012. The first Baki-Dou manga launched in Weekly Shonen Champion in March 2014 and concluded in April 2018 with 22 volumes.

A new Baki-Dou manga launched in Weekly Shonen Champion in October 2018 and ended in June 2023.

Anime Adaptations

The world of Baki has also been brought to life through several anime adaptations. A new anime series of Itagaki's Baki (New Grappler Baki: In Search of Our Strongest Hero) manga debuted on Netflix in June 2018, running for 26 episodes. Netflix released the first 13 episodes outside of Japan in December 2018, followed by the second half in March 2019.

Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen premiered worldwide on Netflix in June 2020. Baki Hanma, the third Baki series on Netflix, debuted in September 2021 with all 12 episodes.

The second season of Baki Hanma premiered in July 2023, featuring the "Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga" story. The "The Father VS Son Saga" story followed in August 2023. An upcoming anime is scheduled to stream on Netflix in 2026.
