Aruko Launches New Series "Sekai de Ichiban Shiawase!"

Aruko, the artist known for "My Love Mix-Up!," has started a new series called "Sekai de Ichiban Shiawase!" which translates to "Happiest in The World!" The series is written by Kizashi Haruyoshi and launched on Shueisha's Manga Mee web platform this past Monday.

Storyline of "Sekai de Ichiban Shiawase!"

The story centers around Kōtarō Sano, a former shut-in. He is able to re-enter society thanks to his favorite minor idol. Through a chance meeting, Kōtarō encounters his idol at a beef bowl restaurant. This idol, Kei, has retired from the entertainment industry. Despite his retirement, he makes an unexpected request of Kōtarō. The details of this request are yet to be revealed, leaving readers in anticipation.

Aruko's Previous Work: "Kimagure a la Mode"

Aruko and Wataru Hinekure previously collaborated on "Kimagure a la Mode," also known as "Whimsical a la Mode." The manga concluded in March 2025. The duo launched the series in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret in July 2024. Shueisha published the compiled book volume of the series on March 25.

Success of "My Love Mix-Up!"

Aruko and Hinekure are well known for their work on "My Love Mix-Up!" The manga was serialized in Bessatsu Margaret from June 2019 to June 2022. Shueisha published the ninth and final compiled book volume in July 2022. Viz Media released the ninth volume in North America in October 2023.

"My Love Mix-Up!" Live-Action Adaptations

The success of "My Love Mix-Up!" led to a live-action series adaptation in Japan. The series premiered in October 2021 and was streamed in English by Viki in December 2021. Additionally, a Thai live-action series adaptation premiered in June 2024, showcasing the manga's international appeal.

One-Shot Manga: "Uso ka Makoto ka Yume ka Koi"

The creator duo of Aruko and Hinekure reunited for a two-chapter manga titled "Uso ka Makoto ka Yume ka Koi." The title translates to "Is This Love a Lie, the Truth, or a Dream?" The manga was released in October 2022.

Aruko's Earlier Hit: "My Love Story!!"

Before "My Love Mix-Up!," Aruko collaborated with Kazune Kawahara on "My Love Story!!," also known as "Ore Monogatari!!" The original 100-page version of the romantic comedy debuted in Bessatsu Margaret Sister in October 2011. It later returned as a serialized work in Bessatsu Margaret. The manga concluded in July 2016, spanning 13 volumes. Viz Media published all volumes in North America.

"My Love Story!!" Adaptations

"My Love Story!!" was adapted into both a television anime and a live-action film. The anime adaptation premiered in April 2015. The live-action film adaptation was released in October 2015. Sentai Filmworks released the anime series on home video with an English dub.
