Mr. Osomatsu Gets New Stage Play in June

Osomatsu-san Stage Play Returns to Tokyo

The Osomatsu-san stage play series is set to continue with a new production, titled "Osomatsu-san on Stage ~Six Men's Show Time 2~2nd Season 2." Performances will take place at the Stellar Hall in Tokyo from June 12th to June 21st.

Cast Announcement

The play will feature returning cast members reprising their roles as the Matsuno sextuplets and other familiar characters. Tomoya Nakanishi will play Osomatsu, Hiroyuki Ono will portray Karamatsu, and Mahiro Sugiyama will take on the role of Choromatsu. Junpei Mitsui will appear as Ichimatsu, Minto Nakamura will play Jushimatsu, and Kazuki Honma will portray Todomatsu. Yuri Ota will return as Totoko, Yusuke Seto as Iyami, Kaito Udagawa as Chibita, and Ayami Fukuyama as Nyaa Hashimoto. The F6 versions of the characters will also be featured, with Ryono Kusachi as Osomatsu, Taiga Nakamoto as Karamatsu, Kenta Matsui as Choromatsu, Toru Isono as Ichimatsu, Masataka Kimura as Jushimatsu, and Yuki Matsumoto as Todomatsu.

A History of Osomatsu-san Stage Plays

The Osomatsu-san stage plays have been running for several years, with the first production taking place in September and October 2016. A second play followed in February and March 2018. The "Osomatsu-san on Stage ~Six Men's Show Time 3~" play was performed in winter 2019, and "Osomatsu-san on Stage ~Six Men's Show Time~ 2nd Season" ran from November to December 2023. In addition to the main stage plays, there have also been separate "Kigeki Osomatsu-san" (Comedy Mr. Osomatsu) plays, which ran in November 2018 and again in November to December 2020. A "Shin Kigeki Osomatsu-san" play was performed in August to September 2024.

Live-Action Film Delayed

The second live-action film in the Mr. Osomatsu franchise experienced a delay in its release. Originally scheduled for January 9th, the release was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. However, the film has been rescheduled and is now set to be released on June 12th.

Controversy Surrounding Actor

Recent news has involved Keita Richard Kusama, an actor known for playing Jushimatsu and a former member of the Japanese boy band Ae! Group. He was arrested on October 4th on suspicion of indecent exposure.

Other Osomatsu-san Media

The Osomatsu-san franchise has expanded beyond stage plays and live-action films to include a variety of other media. The first live-action film was released in March 2022. The fourth season of the anime premiered on television on July 8th.

About Osomatsu-san

The Mr. Osomatsu television anime is based on Fujio Akatsuka's original Osomatsu-kun manga and "high tension comedy" TV anime. The story revolves around the Matsuno family and their six mischievous sons, who are sextuplets. All of the brothers, including the eldest Osomatsu, are infatuated with the same girl, Totoko. The original Osomatsu-kun series focused on the family when the sons were 10 years old. Mr. Osomatsu reimagines the manga and TV anime with the sextuplets as adults.

Anime Seasons and Films

The first three Mr. Osomatsu anime seasons premiered in 2015, 2017, and 2020. The Eiga no Osomatsu-san film was released in 2019. The franchise also encompasses numerous anime shorts and two sixth-anniversary anime films.
