The anime's staff recently revealed that Daisuke Sakuma will voice Shin Kohazame, a pink-haired assassin associated with the Chinese organization Yugang. Sakuma's involvement adds to the anticipation surrounding the anime's portrayal of the manga's diverse cast of characters. Shunsuke Takeuchi will voice the adult version of the protagonist, Juzo Ogami, further solidifying the ensemble of voice talent.
Additional cast members include Yuko Sanpei as the youthful Juzo Ogami, Fuka Izumi as Noren Mitsuoka, Shuichiro Umeda as Kotatsu Nekota, Takeo Otsuka as Tenma Tendo, Atsumi Tanezaki as Chisato Shiraishi, and Yumi Uchiyama as Eri Wanibuchi. Production Team and Studio
Hiro Kaburagi, known for directing Great Pretender, Hozuki's Coolheadedness, and My Little Monster, is at the helm of the anime as director. His experience in directing visually appealing and narratively engaging anime projects instills confidence in the quality of the Kill Blue adaptation. Daidoji's previous work on Kuroko's Basketball demonstrates her ability to capture Fujimaki's distinctive art style.
The anime is being produced by CUE, marking the studio's first venture as the primary animation production studio for a television series. CUE was established in 2023 by DMM, with Rui Kuroki, formerly an executive officer and production manager at Production I.G, serving as president and CEO. This collaboration between experienced industry professionals suggests a commitment to delivering a high-quality anime adaptation.
Manga's Popularity and Storyline
Fujimaki launched the Kill Blue manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2023, concluding its run on September 1. The manga's thirteen collected volumes culminated with the release of the final volume on December 4. A novel adaptation titled Kill Ao Secret Report by Kiyoko Hoshi was also released on the same day.
Viz Media is publishing the manga digitally and in print, bringing the series to a wider audience. They describe the first volume as follows: "Juzo Ogami's a legend. Even among hit men, his name sends shivers down spines. There's never been a job he couldn't handle—that is, until the day he wakes up as a teenager! But how has his body transformed? To find out, he'll have to infiltrate the one place he thought he'd never find himself in again…school!" This synopsis hints at the manga's blend of action, comedy, and mystery.
Viz Media released the fourth volume in print on December 9. MANGA Plus is also offering the manga digitally, ensuring accessibility for readers around the world.
