Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Game Introduces Main Characters in New Trailer

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Set to Launch in February

Square Enix has unveiled a new trailer for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, a remake of the classic 2000 PlayStation title, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. This reimagining is a separate project from the previous Nintendo 3DS remake and promises a host of enhancements and new features for both longtime fans and newcomers to the series.

Release Date and Platform Availability

The game is scheduled to launch on February 5 and will be available on a wide range of platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store on Windows. This widespread availability ensures that players can experience the enhanced Dragon Quest VII regardless of their preferred gaming platform.

Playable Demo and Early Access

For those eager to get a taste of the adventure, a playable demo was released on January 7. Progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game, allowing players to seamlessly continue their journey upon release. As an added bonus, players who complete the demo will receive a Day Off Dress for Maribel as a reward. The Digital Deluxe Edition offers 48 hours of early access.

Enhanced Gameplay and New Features

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined boasts several improvements and additions designed to enhance the overall gameplay experience. The story has been streamlined for a more engaging narrative, and a "Moonlighting" mechanic allows characters to equip two vocations simultaneously. Additionally, a "Monster Master" vocation has been introduced, offering new strategic options for players. Numerous quality-of-life improvements have also been implemented to modernize the game.

Collector's and Digital Deluxe Editions

The game will be available in a Collector's Edition, which includes a SteelBook case, a Smile Slime plush, a ship in a bottle figure, and three paid DLC packs. The Digital Deluxe Edition features 48 hours of early access, a unique costume for Ruff, and the three DLC packs. These editions offer additional content and collectibles for dedicated fans of the series.

History of Dragon Quest VII

The original Dragon Quest VII was initially released for the PlayStation in Japan in 2000 and in North America in 2001. Square Enix later released Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, a 3DS remake of the original title, in Japan in 2013 and in the West in September 2016. The 3DS remake featured updated graphics and a new translation for Western audiences.

HD-2D Remakes of Dragon Quest I & II

In addition to the Dragon Quest VII remake, Square Enix recently launched "HD-2D" remakes of Dragon Quest I & II on October 30. These titles are available on Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox X|S, and PC via Steam and Windows, bringing the classic Dragon Quest adventures to modern platforms with a unique visual style.
