Disney Afternoon Collection Heads to Switch/Switch 2 With 2 More Games

The Disney Afternoon Collection: Bonkers and Goof Troop Join the Party on Switch

Atari and Digital Eclipse are bringing back The Disney Afternoon Collection, this time for the Nintendo Switch and its successor. The collection is slated for a digital release on February 26, with a physical version hitting shelves in May. This re-release isn't just a simple port, it comes with two new additions to the roster: Bonkers and Goof Troop.

Bonkers: Toontown Mayhem Awaits

Bonkers, originally developed by Sun-L and CAPCOM, puts players in the role of the titular Bobcat cop as he navigates the wacky world of Toontown. Digital Eclipse describes the game as featuring six platforming levels filled with Easter eggs for Disney fans. Prepare for some cartoon-fueled chaos as you chase down criminals and unravel mysteries in this classic platformer.

Goof Troop: Puzzle-Solving with Goofy and Max

Goof Troop offers a different kind of gameplay experience. This title, one of Shinji Mikami's earlier works, focuses on cooperative puzzle-solving. Players can team up as Goofy and Max, working together to rescue their friends from a pirate-infested island. Get ready to put your thinking caps on and coordinate your actions to overcome the challenges that await.

A Nostalgic Trip Down Memory Lane

The Disney Afternoon Collection originally launched in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It brought together six classic CAPCOM games based on popular shows from The Disney Afternoon programming block of the 90s. The original collection included DuckTales, DuckTales 2, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck.

What to Expect in the Switch Re-Release

The re-release on Switch and Switch 2 includes the original six games alongside the additions of Bonkers and Goof Troop. The collection includes features like the ability to rewind progress to correct mistakes, an art gallery showcasing concept art and promotional materials, and a music player to enjoy the iconic soundtracks. However, the Switch version will not include time attack and boss rush modes for the newly added Bonkers and Goof Troop. These modes were present in the original collection for the other six games.
