Compile Heart has announced its latest project, a school RPG titled Villion:Code. The game is slated for release on June 25 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and the rumored Switch 2. A website and trailer have been launched, offering a glimpse into the game's world and mechanics.

Story and Setting

Villion:Code is set in a near-future world on the brink of destruction. To avert this impending doom, the Advan Resilience Research Academy City is established. The story centers around an anomaly that appears within the city, giving rise to strange creatures called GEM. These GEMs attack the city's inhabitants and create a bubble, isolating the city from the outside world. Trapped within this new reality, the characters must confront their destinies as they seek the truth behind the anomaly.

Key Creative Talents

The game boasts an impressive lineup of talent behind its creation. Kōji Okada, co-founder of Atlus and co-creator of the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series, serves as the planning producer. Tadashi Satomi, known for his scenario writing on the first two Persona games and The Caligula Effect, is the scenario writer for Villion:Code. Tsukasa Masuko, the sound composer for many early Shin Megami Tensei games as well as The Caligula Effect, Monark, and Varlet, is credited as the sound creator. The character designs are handled by Ilya Kuvshinov, whose previous works include The Wonderland, Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, and Death Stranding Isolations.

Music and Theme

FRAM contributes to the game's atmosphere with the opening theme song "Rebirth Code" and the ending theme song "Echoes of Tomorrow." These songs likely play a crucial role in setting the tone and mood of the game's narrative.
