This new campaign follows the overwhelming success of Murata's initial Kickstarter project, which funded the English version of Across the Strange Edge Volume 1. Launched on April 1, that campaign impressively surpassed its modest goal of €3,200 (approximately US$3,600), raising a total of €8,774 (about US$9,900). Physical rewards for the first volume began shipping to eager backers on September 8, demonstrating a strong track record of delivery and commitment. Yayū Murata initially conceived Across the Strange Edge as a captivating one-shot for Shogakukan's Manga ONE platform, where it quickly garnered an award.
