King Records has officially announced a television anime adaptation of Daken's popular light novel, Monster no Niku wo Kutte Itara Oui ni Tsuita Ken, also known as How I Became King by Eating Monsters. Fans can look forward to this exciting fantasy adventure animated by the acclaimed studio White Fox, with a broadcast scheduled for 2027. A teaser visual has already been revealed, building anticipation for what promises to be an epic series.
Journey to Kingship Through Monster Meat
The story centers on Mars, the twelve-year-old first prince of the Farune kingdom. Living in constant fear of assassination attempts, he must avoid poisoned meals. His solution? Slipping out of the castle into the dangerous, monster-infested forest to hunt for his own food. It's a brutal "eat or die" existence that forces him to battle creatures and his own hunger. His life takes a dramatic turn when a mysterious red-haired woman with a greatsword appears, offering him an apprenticeship. Mars soon uncovers a secret: eating monsters makes you stronger. With her training and his newfound power, Mars begins to overcome the constant assassination plots, but this is merely the beginning. His journey will thrust him into a nationwide, and even continent-spanning, series of wars and political intrigues.

The light novel series is progressing steadily, with the sixth volume released on January 20 and the seventh volume slated for an October 20 release.
