GREE Entertainment has delivered thrilling news to anime fans worldwide: the highly anticipated second season for the television anime Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku, known in English as Loner Life in Another World, has been officially announced!
This exciting development comes with the release of an announcement visual, sparking immense anticipation for what lies ahead for the series' unique protagonist. Fans are already buzzing with speculation about new adventures and challenges that await.
The Journey So Far: Season One
The first anime season, which adapts Shouji Goji's popular isekai fantasy light novel, is produced by the talented teams at Passione and Hayabusa Film. This inaugural season is scheduled to captivate audiences with 12 episodes when it premieres in Fall 2024. Even before its initial broadcast, the confidence in the series' potential is evident with this early Season 2 greenlight. For international viewers, Sentai Filmworks has secured the licensing, making the series accessible for streaming on HIDIVE, complete with both English subtitles and an English dub.
From Web Novel to Anime Sensation
The roots of Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku trace back to October 2016, when author Shouji Goji began penning the fantasy adventure novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website. Its burgeoning popularity led to Overlap acquiring the novel, publishing the first volume under its Bunko imprint in January 2018.
Over the years, the series has seen incredible success. Illustrator booota was responsible for the captivating artwork of the first two volumes, before Saku Enomaru took over illustration duties from volume three onwards, continuing to bring Goji's world to life. The 18th volume of the light novel went on sale on April 20, a testament to its enduring appeal and consistent release schedule. The series boasts an impressive cumulative circulation of 4.3 million copies across its volumes, solidifying its status as a major player in the isekai genre.
Expanding Universe: The Manga Adaptation
Not content with just the light novel and anime, the world of Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku has also been masterfully adapted into a manga series. Comic Gardo magazine began serializing the manga, with artwork by Bibi, in January 2019. The manga has faithfully translated the novel's charm and action into a visual format, attracting even more fans to the franchise.
The 26th volume of the manga was released on January 25, with the 27th volume eagerly awaited and set for a July 20 release. This consistent output demonstrates the strong demand and ongoing narrative development within the manga adaptation.
Global Reach: English Language Releases
For English-speaking fans, both the light novel and manga adaptations are readily available thanks to dedicated licensing efforts. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel in English in February 2021, allowing readers outside Japan to dive into the protagonist's unique journey. The 14th light novel volume went on sale on April 21, and fans can look forward to the 15th volume arriving on September 29.
Kaiten Books holds the English license for the manga, having acquired it in March 2020. The 12th manga volume was digitally released in June 2025, ensuring that the saga continues for manga enthusiasts globally.
